Daydream Misfit Neil Oldman Past/Present/Future Review 10/19/2026

It's been an eventful few weeks since my last update. First off, we got slammed here in Pensacola by Hurricane Isaias. We didn't personally experience much damage, but many people did. Trees down everywhere, and it's not hard to find huge oaks which crushed houses. And of course, many, many downed power-lines. We were without electricity here for 4.5 frustrating days. But again, many had it far worse.

Raven and I didn't let this interfere with our planned vacation in New Orleans. We had a fun time with our people at the World Oddities Expo and the Villain Arts Tattoo Festival. We ate well, and I have to shout out Rosie's on the Roof for serving up the best food of the trip! We wore our legs out wandering Bourbon Street and nearby art galleries, cemeteries, and the Garden District. Thanks, NOLA, for making us feel at home.

Okay, so I didn't accomplish as much as normal the last few weeks, and creative time for the next month will be harder to come by since I have to work extra to make up for lost wages during the storm (as well as pay off the vacation and new tires and alternator for the truck). I really wish some of y'all rich mfers would start paying me to not have to work as much, so I could will more of the stories and graphic ideas from my list into existence! If you're poor like me, I understand if you just subscribe for free.

I'm still strongly considering organizing as a physical indie small press producing chapbooks, zines, and stickers for sale. Most of my experience the last 20 years was selling physical goods on ebay, and I do love to manage an inventory. Print on Demand has shown only limited success. There are advantages to generating real live product, but risks as well. It costs money up front, but also it's One More Thing, and I already don't have time to do the many, many things I already want to do. Still, if it generated any kind of profit, it would be worth it. Small test batches most likely forthcoming and build on the existing social media infrastructure, such as. Attending a zine expo later this month and an arts festival early next month, so I can feel things out before making any kind of decision.

Now down to Daydream Misfit. The Exactly Too Many Magazine interview got delayed one more time. Ross has apparently developed Lemierre Syndrome and can't conduct the interview with me just yet. Well, get well soon, Ross. Jugular-vein thrombosis is no joke!

"The Witches" series and the "Murderess" magazine covers (working title "Serial Killer Hotties") should be finished this week in time to post them (alongside the "Vampire Nurse Recovery Ward" images) on a Halloween page on the website.

You will certainly remember being cast down into "The Pit."

For you fiction-lovers, Raven and I concocted "Weirdcore vs. Dreamcore," in which two titanic, symbolic kaiju battle to the death in the dawn mists of a prehistoric mountain range. Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets.

I reworked the "Movie Reviews" section of the website into "Bento Abyss," a broader and more accommodating organizing page. It includes pointers to weirder blog entries, how tos, film reviews, and external links to anything I feel is interesting enough to point to.

And finally, Influence Peddler" is live now. It's a brazenly capitalistic attempt to share artists, musicians, movies, writers, and thinkers who have influenced the Daydream Misfit crew. It's search engine baiting and also includes amazon affiliate links, so if you click through and buy something, we may earn a few pennies to keep the website up and running.

Thank you for reading, and we hope you have as much fun perusing our stuff as we have making it!
