Neil Oldman Past/Present/Future Review 9/28/2026

In personal news, I got the lease taken care of, I think anyway, so I don’t have to worry about that for a year. Planning a trip to New Orleans next month with Raven to see some oddities, so that should be fun, as well as various local events. I’m seriously mulling over the idea of moving huge elements of the Daydream Misfit project into a press and producing small batches of hard product. The website would then be considered the sandbox for excavating tangible physical treasures from (hopefully not cat deposits). Social Media has turned out not to be my forte, but I have experience managing inventory and selling hard goods on and offline. I can envision a satisfying life peddling chapbooks on weekends. In fancy convention centers! Or out of a van on the side of an interstate exit.
As far as Daydream Misfit projects, let me review the last review before I review…
The Exactly Too Many Magazine interview continues to be delayed. The editor, Ross Juneau, apparently has Alice in Wonderland Syndrome and can’t type or operate his electronics. I feel terrible that he’s so sickly and prone to strange ailments. Get better soon, Ross!
The story “Last Night on Buffy” has joined “The Oakland Hot Fudge Music Scene,” “How to Get a Canoe on Your Roof,” and “No One Thinks About Those Cats” as slightly involved stories I need to carve out at least a day to get done. My brilliant plan to work in bed on the laptop after work and before sleep hasn’t played out so far. I blame discipline.
Raven and Katty are still hard at work on the visual projects “The Witches” and “Serial Hotties Magazine (working title).” I’ve seen the progress, and it’s good stuff! Those projects will be ready and posted in advance of Halloween.
Okay, so what did I get accomplished since last time?
We finished and posted the article “Smoldering Crater Definitely Not AI’s Fault, ChatGPT Says.” Thoughts and prayers for Maryland Heights. We're doomed.
Katty came up with a lovely triptych tapestry image to go with my old story “Three Ape Fable.” I feel like this holds up? Does it hold up? Tell me in the comments.
I developed and posted the short fiction “Untouchable.” Of everything I’ve written, I feel like this one succeeds best in saying what I intended it to say.
The investment opportunity Circloid is now available, if you’re a man with money and testes. Circloid is an accelerated fiscal retirement hyperscaler designed to amplify gains and dominate the fiscal frontier. Get in, winner, we’re going winning.
Lastly, in addition to adding regular updates to Confessions and Lies and You Have Been Selected to Participate in a Game (YHBSTPIAG for short), I added a Movie Reviews section to the website. I posted my reviews for the movies Together, The Substance, and Stop Making Sense. I'll contribute more as I can. Anybody see Love After Death? I’d love to host other people’s movie reviews… I’d get content, you’d get a dedicated SEO link to your website or home base. Hit me up, ghostleelemur@gmail.com
Okay, that’s another busy couple weeks in the books. Feeling accomplished. Not to end on a down note, but does it feel to everyone else as though it’s a constant struggle up a financial incline of powdery sand, and your footing is always giving way so you slide back down and you never make progress, and there are sharks at the bottom, nipping at your bunions? Just me, probably. The stars are still shining. Have a stellar rest of September. The best month of all is just ahead!
